Comenzamos con nuestras #Mundofonews, anunciando música en directo que se avecina, como el regreso de la mallorquina Maria del Mar Bonet a París, recreando su mítico concierto en la sala Olympia medio siglo después. Presentamos la iniciativa Jazz en Red, la gira de los peruanos Oriente Trío y el pulso afrocubano de Pepe Rivero, para recrearnos después en las músicas coreanas que hemos podido disfrutar en la última edición del Jeonju International Sori Festival, del que traemos nuestra crónica, enlazando con más conexiones jazzísticas, tradicionales y experimentales que nos brindan un interesante panorama de las músicas de raíz coreanas de la actualidad.

We begin with our #Mundofonews, announcing upcoming live music, such as the return of the Mallorcan Maria del Mar Bonet to Paris, recreating her legendary concert at the Olympia half a century later. We present the Jazz en Red initiative, the tour by the Peruvian Oriente Trío and the Afro-Cuban pulse of Pepe Rivero, before immersing ourselves in the Korean music we were able to enjoy at the latest edition of the Jeonju International Sori Festival, from which we bring our report, with further jazz, traditional and experimental connections that offer us an interesting panorama of contemporary Korean roots music.

Abrimos con la crónica del festival Sukiyaki Meets the World, en Japón, al que asistimos en su última edición, escuchando a artistas que por allí pasaron, desde Japón a Malawi. El resto del programa lo dedicamos a repasar los mejores discos de la temporada 2025-2026 en las diversas regiones del planeta, según la lista recién publicada por la Transglobal World Music Chart. Felicitamos a los malienses Neba Solo & Benego Diakité por firmar el mejor disco de entre los galardonados.

We open with a report on the Sukiyaki Meets the World festival in Japan, which we attended at its latest edition, listening to artists who performed there, from Japan to Malawi. We devote the rest of the programme to reviewing the best albums of the 2025–2026 season in the different regions of the world, according to the list just published by the Transglobal World Music Chart. We congratulate the Malian Neba Solo & Benego Diakité for having made the best album among the award-winning releases.

La artista griega afincada en Barcelona Stella Papalamprou nos ofrece un álbum de debut hermoso, auténtico, valiente y sin concesiones, “Protanixin” (‘La primera primavera’), en el que explora las canciones de las comunidades griegas originarias del mar Negro, trasladadas desde Anatolia al corazón de Grecia hace un siglo, durante el traumático intercambio de poblaciones entre Grecia y Turquía que afectó a dos millones de personas.

The Greek artist Stella Papalamprou, based in Barcelona, offers us a beautiful, authentic, courageous and uncompromising debut album, “Protanixin” (‘The first spring’), in which she explores the songs of the Greek communities originally from the Black Sea, who were relocated from Anatolia to the heart of Greece a century ago, during the traumatic population exchange between Greece and Turkey that affected two million people.

El músico y antropólogo chileno Pedro Mardones nos ofrece un hermoso viaje musical a lo largo de 5000 kilómetros de cordillera andina en su primer trabajo de larga duración, “El niño”, en el que emplea una gran variedad de instrumentos de cuerda, viento y percusión.

The Chilean musician and anthropologist Pedro Mardones takes us on a beautiful musical journey along 5,000 kilometres of the Andes in his first full-length work, “El Niño”, in which he uses a wide variety of string, wind and percussion instruments.

Arab-Latin currents and African memories

Presentamos nuevas propuestas sonoras que nos traen ecos arábigos, de resonancias palestinas, libanesas y argelinas, con conexiones neoyorquinas, francesas y suizas. Continuamos con ecos latinoamericanos, enlazando Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela, Brasil, Colombia, y también España y el Reino Unido. Terminamos con recopilaciones recién publicadas que nos traen maravillas del pasado desde Mali y Nigeria.

We present new musical proposals bringing us Arab echoes, with Palestinian, Lebanese and Algerian resonances, alongside New York, French and Swiss connections. We continue with Latin American echoes, linking Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia, as well as Spain and the UK. We end with newly released compilations bringing us wonders from the past from Mali and Nigeria.

European Folk Day

El European Folk Day es un día de celebración de las músicas de raíz hechas en Europa, impulsado por la European Folk Network, una red que agrupa a profesionales, divulgadores y otros actores de estas sonoridades enraizadas. “Mil mundos en Radio 5” se une a esta convocatoria con este programa que, a la vez, se hace eco de otras dos iniciativas que se suman: el ciclo Klangkosmos, en Alemania, que este mes cuenta con las británicas The Rheingans Sisters, y la European Folk Night, que se celebra esta noche en Luxemburgo, con actuaciones como la de los belgas del Hartwin Trio, a quienes escuchamos.

European Folk Day is a day celebrating roots music made in Europe, promoted by the European Folk Network, a network bringing together professionals, communicators and other actors involved in these rooted sounds. “Mil Mundos en Radio 5” joins this initiative with this programme, which also highlights two other participating initiatives: the Klangkosmos series in Germany, which this month features the British The Rheingans Sisters, and European Folk Night, taking place tonight in Luxembourg, with performances including that of the Belgian Hartwin Trio, whom we hear.

A pesar de las dificultades que atraviesa el país, de la guerra, los bombardeos y las agresiones externas, sigue vibrando en el Líbano una escena de artistas muy creativos y vinculados a sus raíces musicales, que reinterpretan de manera sumamente interesante, como es el caso de este trío acústico, Tilt, que debuta con un estupendo disco: “Wasm”.

Despite the difficulties the country is going through, the war, the bombings and external aggression, a scene of highly creative artists deeply connected to their musical roots continues to thrive in Lebanon, reinterpreting them in extremely interesting ways, as in the case of this acoustic trio, Tilt, who make their debut with an excellent album: “Wasm”.

Trío Tikismikis

Dos artistas argentinos y una francoespañola se encuentran en la ciudad francesa de Toulouse para dar vida a esta formación, el Trío Tikismikis, que orienta sus inspiraciones a las músicas del noroeste argentino y nos presenta un disco de debut que destila autenticidad y belleza: “Pedaleando sueños”.

Two Argentine artists and a French-Spanish one come together in the French city of Toulouse to form Trío Tikismikis, drawing their inspiration from the music of north-western Argentina and presenting a debut album that exudes authenticity and beauty: “Pedaleando Sueños”.

European Folk Day

Celebramos las músicas de raíz hechas en Europa (ya sean de raíces europeas o venidas de otras partes del globo), sumándonos al European Folk Day, que se celebra todos los años en torno al 23 de septiembre, impulsado por la European Folk Network, con el objetivo de dar visibilidad a estas músicas enraizadas. Las músicas nos traen aires británicos, escandinavos, griegos, húngaros, portugueses, valencianos, catalanes, finlandeses, alemanes y franceses, con conexiones anatolias, japonesas, norteafricanas, flamencas y otras.

We celebrate roots music made in Europe (whether rooted in European traditions or brought from other parts of the globe), joining European Folk Day, which is held every year around 23 September and promoted by the European Folk Network, with the aim of giving greater visibility to these rooted musical expressions. The music brings us British, Scandinavian, Greek, Hungarian, Portuguese, Valencian, Catalan, Finnish, German and French flavours, with Anatolian, Japanese, North African, flamenco and other connections.
